Reinforcement + waterproofing

The world's most popular crack-and-moisture solution

Polygrids™ GCL bonds a fiberglass grid to a lightweight nonwoven geotextile — 40 g/m² or less — to perform two jobs at once: reinforcing the pavement and acting as a waterproofing barrier that protects the asphalt layer from water ingress.

The bonded geotextile is applied directly onto the tack coat for hassle-free installation. The tack coat is absorbed into the geotextile and bonds with the bituminous course above, making GCL one of the most economical and widely used solutions worldwide for crack prevention and waterproofing.

Why Polygrids™ GCL

Two jobs, one economical layer

01

Dual Protection

Reinforces the pavement structure while acting as a waterproofing barrier against water ingress — two jobs, one layer.

02

Lightweight Nonwoven

A geotextile of 40 g/m² or less keeps the composite economical without compromising performance.

03

Hassle-Free Installation

Applied directly onto the tack coat, which is absorbed into the geotextile and bonds naturally with the asphalt above.

04

Chemical & Corrosion Resistant

Protects against chemicals, mildew, and corrosion, extending the pavement's service life.

Available grades

Choose your grade

Polygrids™ GCL is manufactured in three tensile grades, sized to match your traffic loading and pavement design.

PT525 GCL

Standard-duty grade for typical overlay reinforcement.

PT1025 GCL

Mid-duty grade for higher traffic loading.

PT2025 GCL

Heavy-duty grade for demanding infrastructure projects.

How it works

Reinforcement above, waterproofing below

The bonded nonwoven layer sits against the tack coat, absorbing it and forming a bond with the bituminous course — while the fiberglass grid above reinforces against cracking.

  • Tack coat is absorbed into the lightweight nonwoven backing
  • Nonwoven bonds directly with the asphalt bituminous course
  • Fiberglass grid reinforces against reflective and fatigue cracking
  • Composite layer blocks water ingress into lower pavement layers

Frequently Asked Questions

What does GCL protect against that standard PT doesn't?
The bonded nonwoven layer adds a waterproofing barrier on top of PT's reinforcement, protecting the asphalt from water ingress — standard PT reinforces only.
How is GCL installed?
It's applied directly onto the tack coat. The tack coat is absorbed into the nonwoven backing and bonds with the bituminous course above.
Is GCL suitable for high-rainfall areas?
Yes — its waterproofing function makes it a popular choice for moisture-prone pavements, in addition to standard crack-prevention applications.
What's the nonwoven fabric weight?
40 g/m² or less, keeping the composite lightweight and economical while still performing its waterproofing role.
