Maximum protection

Against cracking and moisture

Polygrids™ GC is a composite made by bonding a fiberglass geogrid to a polypropylene-based nonwoven geotextile. The nonwoven layer adds reinforcement over the binder course beneath the grid, and — most importantly — performs as a waterproofing barrier that keeps moisture from entering the asphalt layer from the aggregate below.

Its high tensile strength resists stress-related cracking and extends pavement lifetime, making GC the most efficient solution where both crack prevention and moisture barriers are a priority.

Why Polygrids™ GC

Built for demanding pavements

01

Maximum Waterproofing

A heavier polypropylene nonwoven forms a robust barrier against moisture entering from the aggregate layer below.

02

Additional Reinforcement

The nonwoven layer reinforces the binder course beneath the grid, not just the surface above it.

03

High Tensile Strength

Resists stress-related cracking under heavy and repeated traffic loading.

04

GC & GCM Configurations

Available across GC and GCM configurations to match your project's moisture and reinforcement demands.

Available grades

Choose your grade

Polygrids™ GC is manufactured in three tensile grades, each available in GC and GCM configurations.

PT525 · GC / GCM

Standard-duty grade for typical overlay reinforcement.

PT1025 · GC / GCM

Mid-duty grade for higher traffic loading.

PT2025 · GC / GCM

Heavy-duty grade for demanding infrastructure projects.

How it works

Two layers of protection in one composite

The polypropylene nonwoven sits beneath the fiberglass grid, reinforcing the binder course and blocking moisture from the aggregate layer, while the grid above resists stress-related cracking.

  • Fiberglass grid reinforces against reflective and fatigue cracking
  • Polypropylene nonwoven adds reinforcement to the binder course
  • Nonwoven layer blocks moisture entering from the aggregate below
  • High tensile strength extends overall pavement lifetime

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between GC and GCM?
Both combine our fiberglass grid with a polypropylene nonwoven for reinforcement and moisture protection. For the specific technical differences between GC and GCM grades, contact our technical team for the grade-specific datasheet.
How does GC differ from GCL?
Both are geocomposites, but GC uses a heavier polypropylene nonwoven than GCL's lightweight (40 g/m² or less) backing, giving GC a more robust moisture barrier for demanding applications.
Where is GC most commonly used?
Wherever both crack prevention and a strong moisture barrier are priorities — heavy-traffic pavements, and sites where water ingress from the aggregate layer is a concern.
Does GC need a tack coat?
Yes — like our other geocomposite grids, GC is applied directly onto a tack coat, which bonds the nonwoven layer to the surface below.
